Zach's Scholarship
The Zach Elliott Memorial Scholarship was established in 2019 by Zach’s grandfather, Richard Stabile and continues to be funded by generous community members, organizations, family and friends of the Elliott family. Given annually, the award recognizes a Nipomo High School senior who shares Zach’s love of the performing arts and his passion for helping others. Candidates must have participated in drama for 4 semesters or plan to attend California State University, Chico, Zach's alma mater. Applicants must also write an essay reflecting on “the nicest thing they ever did for someone” and how it made them feel. The Elliott family hopes that Zach’s joyful spirit will live on through the students supported by this scholarship, and recipients will be inspired to make a difference in the lives of others, as Zach did.
Nipomo High School students interested in applying for the Zach Elliott Memorial Scholarship should contact Mrs. Oksner at the NHS Career Center. Click here for the online application. Deadline for applications is March 25, 2021 at 3:30 pm PDT.

Rachael Todd
Rachael Todd is a 2021 graduate from Nipomo High School. She participated in the Nipomo Theatre company for all four years of high school and acted as its president during her senior year. She feels that there is no better outlet than the arts to be crazy, fun, and serious all at the same time. She is continuing her education in the arts at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, and by “the arts” she means music, art, and pretty much everything else involved in that realm.

The Great American Melodrama Fundraiser
In October 2019, we hosted the first Zach Elliott Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser at the Great American Melodrama in Oceano, CA. The sold-out audience was treated to the Melodrama's hilarious rendition of "Drac in the Saddle" as well as performances by current and former Nipomo High School drama students and friends of Zach. The event was a huge success, raising many dollars for the scholarship fund.
We were extremely disappointed not to be able to hold this fundraiser again in 2020 due to the pandemic. Please join our email list to receive updates and invitations to future events. |
